marco_math Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Hello: Im really worried about the following problem: Where I am from we have two last names and I have mistakenly mixed them up on my application and GRE score. Basically I signed for the GRE tests with my second last name and I have submitted my first application with my first last name. I am very worried here because now I am not sure if the university I am applying to is ever going to match my GRE score with my application. I have already sent an email to the university explaining my concern but they haven't answered and their web page says that they answer in about a week. Should I be worried about this problem? I have other applications to fill out and now I don't know how to fill out my name so that the matching can be done. Do I fill out my university app's with my second last name as in the GRE? Is this a potentially fatal problem for my app's?
Bearcat1 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Not at all. Some of my records have my maiden name, and I haven't had any problems. If there is a box to fill in any other names used, put both last names there, or the other last name. I would try to match any remaining applications to your GRE scores, but for the ones that are already done, just email them (like you've done) and let them know. It's pretty common, I think, and they know that. Just be extra diligent in following up and making sure everything has been received and accounted for.
Chai_latte Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I have two last names, too. I usually drop one of my last names, but had both on my GRE. So, that put me in a similar position. I didn't have any trouble. Just make note of that on your application (there should be a section on possible/alternate/past names).
marco_math Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Thanks guys! Will do! I feel much better now.
