vikas24 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Hi, My Application Decision Status on Columbia's website, changed from Pending to Accepted with a Green Tick Mark. I guess this means I'm accepted, but I haven't received any email about the admission or funding whatsoever, on Columbia's CS MS FAQ page, it says that as soon as your decision is posted, the system automatically informs you via email, which has not happened. So, I'm confused as to what's happening .. Any Idea's ?? Thanks

tedjj Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 It may be that you are on "waiting list" and they are waiting for admitted students to accept/reject their offer. You should see if students from your field were admitted.

Publication: 9 (4 international, 5 national) GRE: Verbal 520 (67%), Quant: 800 (94%) Toefl: 108 Award: some, but not significant I don't know what happens then. This institute has a very early deadline, but their decisions are lagged behind.

My stats are: GPA: 80% in the first two years (British uni - 70% is an A), 4.1/4.0 third year (exchange at very good US Uni) Publications: 0 as well GRE: Verbal 570 (79%), Quant 770 (88%), CS 820 (85%) I applied to systems, which area did you guys apply to? P.S.: Some people on the results board posted that they got an email stating "Applications are still being reviewed and as soon as a decision is made on your application you will be notified by email.". Did you get that? (because I didn't?)

Did you get that? (because I didn't?) I applied to systems, too. I didn't received an email either. May be that was a reply email for one who inquiry for status. In the worst case, those guys are on wait-list, and we are out.

humor_me Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I just saw that my application to Columbia MS program has been rejected. i have a hard time understanding why : TOEFL : 115 GRE : 780 (Verbal), 780(Quantitative), 4.0(37%) Essay CS GRE : 820 (85%) And i had 2 recommendations from NSF career award winners and yet my application gets rejected for the Masters program. Does someone know why my application would be rejected? Is there a cut-off score for the essay writing?
vincent Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Again universities don't pay that much attention as we might think to stuff like GRE scores. I got rejected from the PhD program and got in for the MS program. My GRE quant was 720, GRE verbal 600 and AW 4.0. I didn't do any subject test and my TOEFL was 108.

Verbal: 520 (67%) Quant: 800 (93%) Writing: 4.0 (37%) GRE CS: Not taken I was rejected in Ph.D. program, and just got admitted in MS Program without any funding info. I got a BS Degree outside US.
