luke8ball Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 The following are my stats. Thanks for any input! Undergrad: UNC Chapel Hill Major: Math (BA) GPA: Overall - 3.97, Major 4.0 GRE: Haven't taken yet. I anticipate close to perfect on the quantitative. Around 160 for the verbal. Research Experience: I worked in a Fluids Lab as an intern, but mainly performing the actual experiments, rather than participating in any publications, etc. Relevant ECs: Tutored in the math help center, took a peer tutoring course Side note: I'm graduating in three years, so that's why I don't have any type of thesis. Schools I'm applying to: NCSU (my goal), UNC Charlotte, UNC Wilmington, and considering UNC Chapel Hill (though I recognize the difficulty). Thanks for your input!
cyberwulf Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Math isn't exactly my area, but I seriously doubt you'll have much trouble getting in anywhere.
luke8ball Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 Thanks for the input! So staying at UNC CH might not be too big a stretch? I've heard people normally go "a step down" for graduate school.
cyberwulf Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I've never heard of the 'step down' theory. If anything, it's more common to see excellent students step up the ladder in prestige when they go to grad school.
