My grad school GPA is lower than my undergrad GPA...

Recommended Posts

I'm doing a one-year MA program in economics at the same university where I did my undergrad. I had a 3.80 undergrad GPA, and I just received my first letter grade in my graduate program which is a B+. Even if I get A's in my other classes, my GPA will still be lower than my undergrad GPA. Will it make me look bad when applying for jobs to have a grad GPA that is lower than my undergrad GPA? I know I can work hard and try to do better next quarter, but I am starting job-hunting soon and employers will only see my first quarter's grades. I think I'm sounding silly here but I'm kind of worried. Thanks.

You can't change the past, so why worry about it? Concentrate on doing the best you can in future semester and on your job apps.

Moreover, no one on this forum can know what your potential employers will think. If you have an overall high GPA, it's understandable that an MA could be more than a BA, so on its own the simple fact that your BA GPA was higher is not something to worry about.

No one has asked me my GPA either. Some companies do have a cut-off for applications though. The cut-off is usually 3.2 in my field( and in most fields too).
