Congrats! I just got accepted today too, for Chemistry PhD. Visiting weekends are March 1-2 and 29-30 for me. How about you?

Thanks - I haven't received any information about visiting weekends yet. The only information they gave me was that orientation would be in August.

Congrats both of you! I was also admitted to UT!, seeking a PhD in Petroleum Engineering. I do not know yet if I could go for the visiting weekend, anyway I have not received anything about it yet. Actually I have one question, regardgin the financial support? do you know if we have to apply for it separately? I mean I know that almost all PhD students (at least in PE) ara supported financially. I would appreciate if anyone can help me with that. Thank you and congrats again.

I don't know about PE specifically but I was told by the Jackson School of Geology at UT that financial package information won't be mailed for a few weeks.  But that you don't have to apply or submit additional information, just wait and that they would send us the info in a few weeks.  I think a short gap between acceptance and financial information is not uncommon.  You might want to check in with either your POI or the department secretary to be sure.

Sociology here. Our event is March 6th and 7th (a Wednesday and Thursday?).

 

Sociology programs fully fund students for all five years, but no details on the components yet.

hi everybody! I just received the financial support offer. i have another doubt: in the offer it is mentioned that by january 2014 i must present the 3 qualifying exams, which means that just after 4 months of beung accepted i must present and ofcourse pass it. is this the same for every university in US? i already hold an MS (not from the US) maybe because of this? is the qualifying exam based in the courses taken during this semester or it is based on all courses from the undergrad major? please help me asap!!! thank you all!
