I know it's a little early for acceptance/rejection notices. Anyone else on here apply for the CW MFA this year? Where did you apply? What's your top choice? Freak-outs welcome.

Glad you started this. Obviously we're all interested in who heard what.

Are you a member of the Facebook MFA Draft 13 group? It appears to be an offshoot of the PW/Creative Writing Blog, which doesn't seem to be all that active now.

I applied to

UT

Michener

Texas State

LSU

Mississippi

Vanderbilt

Virginia

Iowa

Florida

Arizona

and the Sewanee summer program just in case.

How about you?

PS Why does yours say caffeinated and mine says decaf?

Welp, as of tomorrow, I will have completed all of my applications and I am now freaking out.

Schools I've applied to:

UCR

Cal State Long Beach

Cal State San Bernardino

Really don't know what to expect but obviously want to get in somewhere and just be back in school. This whole waiting game is making my stomach hurt. Lol.

Ms D, only 3 schools? I take it you want to stay in the area. I applied to 11 and wondered if that was enough.

Lol yea, only three this year and money is somewhat tight for me at the moment. I actually considered going to USC but I didn't get the necessary GRE scores for their  program, so I decided to apply to local programs that didn't require the exam. Plus going out of state for school isn't an option right now (again, money issues and etc). Just hoping for some good news this round.

Glad this is already starting, the wait is getting to me and I just finished applying.

I applied to:

Brown

Umass Amherst

Syracuse Univerity

University of North Carolina

Washington University in St. Louis

Hollins University

University of Montana

University of Oregon

Louisiana State University

Ole Miss

North Carolina State University

New Orleans University

Bowling Green State University

University of Alabama

Ole Miss gets back to its applicants at the end of Jan to say if you got into the second round. yikes! I should try to put it out of my mind, but maybe I'll just obsess about it none stop instead.

I only applied to University of Arkansas. It will be kind of a miracle if I get in.

Number of posts ... I think.

I'm not quite freaking out yet, but it's nice to know I'm not alone!

This is my second year through the application process, having been accepted by Temple last year with no funding and wait listed at George Mason. This year's list goes like so:

Brown

Minnesota

MN State-Mankato

Florida

Florida State

Ohio State

Illinois

Wyoming

McNeese State

University of Alabama

Arizona

George Mason (they let me apply for free)

Washington University in St. Louis

Kansas

Northern Michigan

Temple (they deferred my enrollment, so I'm once again in the pool for funding)

I suppose the results will start trickling in within the next 2 or 3 weeks, eh?

I applied to: WUSTL, U of Alabama, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, McNeese. Got an email from Ole Miss tonight saying I made it to phase II. So far, so good. I'll just be happy to get in anywhere, fully funded.

The Ole Miss email was just, "Congratulations, you are selected to move into phase II. Please complete the UM online graduate form, send in application fee, 3 references..." etc. etc. Just hope I make it to stage III acceptance, because that's what really matters heh.

  • 1 month later...

News from anyone???  Full on freak-out here.

Wait listed from NYU on March 4th.

Accepted to New School (with scholarship) March 10th.

Haven't heard from Brooklyn or Hunter.

I assume Hunter has already mailed out decisions and I've been rejected... can anyone help shed light?!?!
