fishasaurus Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 (edited) I have been accepted into my two top choice schools (yay!). But, I spent a lot of time last quarter focusing on applying for fellowships, scholarships, and grad schools, and prioritized my research over my classes. On top of that, I got pretty sick a couple times, and my GPA went down a bit. I'm in the honors program, but if my GPA drops below a certain point, I don't stay in. I think the distinction of being in the honors program probably helped my application quite a bit. Thing is, I'm in over my head as far as this quarter goes. My research project, combined with my lab classes and major group projects, are really taking up time, and I'm worried that I won't be able to keep my GPA up. I know that my schools will ask me for an official transcript before actually admitting me into the department (because they say they will). Is getting an offer rescinded even a thing I should worry about? I'm going to work my hardest regardless, but I'm wondering if I should perhaps be a little less paranoid. uromastyx Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Let me say, I'm not sure. However, I find it extremely hard to believe. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Remember, they chose you because of your whole package, not simply your GPA. Also, you got into your top choice (congrats!!!). Use that as motivation to finish strong, not only to send off the best official transcript to your graduate program (and it'll no doubt be used for future applications/grants), but to consider it preparation for the demands of graduate school. Best of luck, don't stress, and congrats.

juilletmercredi Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 ^Yes, but the only reason they would rescind in those circumstances would be: -If you failed to graduate, either by dropping out or failing a lot of classes -If your GPA dropped WAY lower than they anticipated (like you were admitted with a 3.5 but got Cs and Ds in your last semester) -If you didn't fulfill required prerequisites that you said you would (like you need quantum physics but you failed quantum physics, or dropped it, or got lower than a C) Otherwise I don't think you have to worry.
