wweerr Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 As below, Hello, I'm the communications specialist at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University. The head of graduate admissions asked me to call you to see if you have any questions about our program, Purdue, or life in West Lafayette. I'd like to speak with you one morning next week, if possible. Please let me know which day and time is convenient and send me a phone number at which you can be reached. I'll look forward to speaking with you! Regards, (Ms.) Joanne Lax Is it a really good sign?
RubyBright Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I don't about "really good", but definitely a good sign, at least. They wouldn't bother to have someone call you unless they were interested. Good luck!
hungryturtle Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 This basically looks like an admission to me. Congrats!
Soleil ت Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Looks good to me! I wouldn't count it as an acceptance yet; however, I would definitely say they are certainly putting you in the "winner" pile.
sansao Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I would plan as though this were an interview. Be ready to answer questions and have some of your own ready. Good luck!
BlahCollege Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I went to Purdue, and she is kind of like an administrator who knows nothing about ECE. She teaches seminars and stuff on networking and presentation skills and such. I would say it is a good sign, though I do not know why she would be the one to talk to you. Not to be rude but I hated this woman while I was there (but to be fair it was likely because she was often on panels grading presentations and would only ever comment on things like "well you said umm once, you need to work on that" and as a student who only cared about the subject matter, these kinds of comments always annoyed me). Anyone showing interest is a good thing, and I would not be surprised to find out that she refuses to sign off on any student she has not personally talked to.
