dozturk Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 (edited) I have been accepted to Cornell University for the MS/PhD program and the financial aid decisions would be made in mid-march. I cannot afford the expenses for 5 years, so I won't be able to attend unless granted fellowship/assistantship. Do you think it is appropriate to tell the department about this? How about the professors that I want to work with (and mentioned in my SOP)? should I mail them also, and directly tell about my situation and/or ask whether they would consider funding me? thanks for the suggestions! sr0304 Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 you've answered your own question--financial aid decisions will be made in mid-March. Don't email them until around St. Patrick's Day. i'm in the same boat with UCSD's Comm. program. They've nominated me for a fellowship, but will even have to add to the fellowship some sort of stipend because the cost of living in San Diego is ridiculously expensive. The waiting sucks, but let us have faith.
