Azrou
I did a little less than 1 page, with 1.5 line spacing. It was just titled "Scholarship Statement" and not address to anyone in particular, like my SOP.
Hilldog2016
I did a little less than 1 page, with 1.5 line spacing. It was just titled "Scholarship Statement" and not address to anyone in particular, like my SOP. Thanks for the info Azrou. This may be a stupid question, but is it safe to assume the Scholarship Committee has read the rest of our application, including SOP? Do you think they have it in front of them? alf10087
I won't lie. I'm having a small episode of writer's block regarding this statement. I feel like I already addressed my fitness to the program in the SOP. I don't want to be perceived as redundant, but at the same time the strongest arguments were already laid out there. Hilldog2016
I'm feeling confused too, obviously we addressed fit in our SOPs. So do we reuse some of that because it was already appropriate, and because maybe they don't have it in front of them? Or do we restate in different ways, or what? I won't lie. Azrou
Yeah I am sure they have your full application packet in front of them while they are reviewing the scholarship statements. You are probably going to rehash some of what you said already, but this is also a chance to bring back all the stuff you had to cut out because it didn't fit, or because it wasn't relevant to the SOP. For example I said that I had several friends and colleagues already at Georgetown/GPPI and so it wasn't just the standard info from brochures and the website that made me apply, I had affirmation from people I trusted that it was a quality program and a good fit for me. There are a lot of directions you could go in.

MPPgal
400 words and done! Now let´s keep our fingers crossed I need at least 15 K to be able to attend and tha is after asking for a lot of loans! Good luck to all!
lacanadiense
Waiting...the hardest part. Now that I have my first acceptance, and apparently a chance at some funding (!), the reality of the DEBT I may have to incur is finally setting in. Looking at GPPI threads from previous years, the most anyone was awarded was about 20k, and most people only got 10-12k, and some as low as 5k! GPPI's tuition is now listed as 42k including fees, so even if you got the big 20k award (unlikely in and of itself), that would still mean 44k in tuition over two years, PLUS living expenses in a very expensive city. Figuring with a spartan lifestyle you could keep living expenses down to 15k/year (this would mean living far from campus, taking the bus or biking, packing your lunch 80% of the time...), that would STILL put me about 75k in the hole. Holy crap.
Hilldog2016
Yeah I'm worried about that too. When people listed their scholarship amounts that was straight up free money, right? Hopefully assistantships are separate and abundant... I haven't seen many GPPI posters from previous years talk about assistantships, have you guys found anything? UA_politician
Those of you who have already written their scholarship essays, did you have to submit this form by regular mail (http://finaid.georgetown.edu/document/1242766478053/2012-13_GradApp_Form_Online_pub_0001.pdf)? Also, do they tell you about this form in a later email, since I'm rather sure it was not a part of the regular addmissions package.
Dinosaur7
Since I originated this thread totally stressed out , I just wanted to check back in and let people know that I did hear from GPPI today and was accepted! Big sigh of relief. No request for scholarship essay yet, but based on what you all said it seems like that could come separately in the next day or so. nphan and waqfi 1

Flyers1
Got the email this morning telling me that I am being considered for scholarships and asking me to submit a 1 page maximum statement about why GPPI "is the place that will best help you fulfill your goals in the public policy field." Submission due by 2/26 at 12 PM.

UA_politician
MPPgal, Hilldog2016 Well, I'm an international too and maybe that's why we don't need to submit that form at all? The reason I asked about it in the first place is because I saw on this forum somebody from the last year saying that not submitting this form significantly delayed their financial decision. alf10087
I am an international student and I also had to submit the scholarship essay. Did you receive the acceptance email? When? They usually send the email about the essay 1-2 days after you get the heads up.
