stammer Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Greetings to all South Asianists! What do you study? Where are you applying? Where do you want to go? Where have you been accepted rejected? Best of luck to all this application season!
DivSkool Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 UChicago's the place to be, both in the Divinity School and in SALC (South Asian Languages and Civilizations). Now, if only they would ever let us know...
Samahito Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I'm interested in monastic/vinaya practices in Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Myanmar. Also want to do Pali and Singhalese, and the history of early Buddhism and Buddhist Phil (esp the phenomonology of canonical meditation practices), and the recent controversy over Bhikkhuni ordination in Theravada. Applied to IU Bloomington, CU Boulder, UNM, Long Beach, and now, Cornell! Still waiting to hear back from all of them. bollymemes 1
stammer Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 It looks like some Chicago Div results have been posted so I'm not sure why we haven't heard yet. I emailed the Dean of students recently but haven't heard back yet. I thought we would hear by today but.. I agree with you DivSkool, Chicago a great place for SAS, although a couple other places seem like a good fit for my particular interests. I applied to the Hx of Religions program in the Div school. You?

You? At least for all internal applicants, emails were sent out by the Dean of Students on Friday night with offers/waitlist/rejections. As for external candidates, I don't really know what the deal is. I know my status but I don't want to say too much more on here because I don't want to be immediately identifiable by other people at Chicago...
