rllnyc Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Hi! I submitted my application to one school (my top choice) on January 4th. Ten days later, I received an email from the head of the program saying she was impressed by my 'well-written and compelling' essay. She also invited me to visit the school, sit in on a course, and call her with questions. I spoke with her on the phone the next day and I'm visiting next week. Based on this website, I should be hearing admissions decisions the first week of March. Was my email a good sign???? The lady said she was reaching out to the most promising applicants in her email. I'm going INSANE waiting!! Any insight would be great
Lamantin Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 (edited) You've already answered your own question. She thinks you're a strong candidate, otherwise contacting you would be both a waste of your time and of the department's time. Don't convince yourself that this means you are guarenteed acceptance, any number of things could get in the way. It's a good sign nonetheless. Edited February 20, 2013 by Lamantin
rllnyc Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 Thanks for your feedback. I know I'm basically answering my own question, lol. Just curious as to whether anyone else has received something similar & what the ultimate results were?
Sconnie Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 The only phone calls or emails I got with invitations also came with unofficial acceptances so youre on the right path I think
ak48 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 The usual disclaimer applies: "An acceptance isn't official until it's official". But, to me, this is as close to a "guarenteed" admission as you can get without an explicit mention of an offer. You should be very happy.
