Anyone out there a PSU applicant? I received an email a few days ago informing me that my application has been received. Now it's just a waiting game until the end of April. This is my first choice school as I am from the area and would receive a tuition waiver/monthly stipend through a T.A. type position (I did this as an undergraduate there and was rehired... now I just have to get accepted into the grad program). Is this school also at the top of anyone else's list? Why did you choose Portland State? And, most importantly, how are you dealing with this incredibly long admissions decision wait?

I received that same email back in mid January. I applied to PSU because my undergraduate advisor (a PSU MSW/PHD Alumni) spoke very highly of the faculty & said that it's a very liberal and progressive program. I'm also interested in the Peace Corps Masters International option.

I am applying to PSU and am from CT.. so very nervous about my chances of getting in. It is my #1 choice right now, because of their trimester schedule (not many east coast schools have that), as well as the opportunity for the school certification.. Also, I love Portland and would like to make the big move.

I already got into and deposited at NYU, which is where I will go if I don't get into PSU or UW-Seattle, but the wait stinks! It would be a big move and in fairly short notice if I get in. I hear we won't know until April? I sent in my application and got a delivery notification via USPS on January 15, but have not received the email they received it yet.. should I be concerned?

Did you receive an email with an application ID that lets you check the status of your application?

No :( I only know my application got there because I sent it with a confirmation from the US Postal Service.. and it was delivered January 15.. They say not to call but maybe I should?

I sent my application in around the first week of January and received an email with application code on 1/11 and I also received an email on 1/14 from PSU admissions stating they have received my official transcripts. It does say not to call but maybe you can send an email just to verify that they received your app & you may also want to call admissions to see if they received your transcripts. :(

Thanks for the info.. I know everything on the check list was in one envelope (including my transcripts and letters of rec) and then the graduate application in a separate envelope.. I am emailing them now just to check in... you just made me VERY nervous!  ^_^

Did you apply advanced standing or regular? Maybe that could be the difference?

I'm sorry I didn't mean to!!  I just really don't trust USPS - They delayed a couple of my applications!! I applied for regular MSW admission- and I put everything in 1 envelope for the program (MSW app/LOC's/transcripts) and I sent a separate envelope with another copy of my transcripts to Admissions. I'm sure they received it since you received confirmation from USPS.

Haha no worries! Just kinda have my heart set on PSU (even though they tell us so late and I would make a cross country move). I emailed admissions and the one lady listed under FAQs who you are supposed to notify if there is any change of info on the application.. hopefully they get back to me soon! Perhaps they received more applications than normal or something! Just nervous because you got the confirmation email so quickly... but I did the same thing as you with the two envelopes so hopefully they got there and they're just behind! Their application system seems so behind the times as it's all paper applications, but oh well!

I feel a LITTLE better.. logged into the online general grad school application and it says they received my official transcripts on the date USPS said they were delivered.. now for the SSW!

I applied too. I have an ID/Log-In from an email sent Nov 21, 2012. I'm incredibly nervous. It's one of my first choice schools but I believe they will also be the latest to return a response. I friended them on Facebook and it seems they are just now (as in the past day or two) opening applications. o_0

Has anyone received any word from PSU who didn't apply for early admissions?

I thought there was only one application deadline for PSU because they look at EVERY application before admitting anyone? I saw one person who said the Advanced Standing application decisions were finalized and they got in, but for regular standing, I thought there was only one deadline?

I'm interested to know if anyone has heard as well.

Ohhh shoot you're right ;) , I meant that didn't apply for Advanced Standing. So has anyone heard any news from PSU that applied for regular standing?

I applied for regular standing and haven't heard anything! All I've gotten was the email with my Application ID and PIN. The email says a decision will be posted no later than April 30th, but that seems really late to me  unless I get a response much earlier than that I think it's unfortunately out of the running for me!

I received the same email as well- my "pending" status hasn't changed. :/
