panzertorte Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Hi all, I received an unofficial offer of admissions to a Social Psych Phd program. My POI asked me to list anything else that might sway me to accept the offer. He included summer funding and a release from TAships as two examples. Other than those two he mentioned, I couldn't think of anything else that might be within the realm of possibility to even ask for. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Release from TAship is huge in that you can accept a TAship appointment when you're trying to get teaching experience instead of having to balance teaching and research. Also, summer funding is great. One other thing to think about could be along the lines of what the user 'NicholasCage' suggested in terms of lab software upgrades, equipment, and research assistants.
+Whiskey Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Moving expenses? I wouldn't have asked, but my POI wasn't encouraging me to ask for the moon. It's worth a shot.
lewin Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Travel funding. You want to attend a conference each year. TA releases are great too. And frankly, if it's a good school they should already provide software, equipment, and research assistants.
moralresearcher Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Do you have a different offer with more funding? See if you can get your salary increased. jasmineflwr 1
