Wicked_Problem
Decided to start a topic, since my previous inquiries could easily be missed in the very active thread where I posted them... Question: Are there any lurkers out there that applied to Drew University's History and Culture Ph.D.? I would appreciate a PM or response on this thread. I can't believe that I am the only applicant on Grad Cafe even though it is a moderately sized program. Thanks.
Wicked_Problem
"Congratulations on your admission to Drew University's graduate program in History and Culture! Our faculty were quite impressed by your qualifications and your enthusiasm, and we very much look forward to working with you. Friday, April 19 is Admitted Students' Day, a luncheon and colloquium for everyone who has been accepted into the program. It will be an ideal opportunity to meet our faculty and current students, and we hope you can accept our invitation." ---email received today... Any lurkers out their admitted this year? Masters or Ph.D.? Edited March 23, 2013 by Wicked_Problem
JacksonBaby
Although I do not know a great deal about Drew's PH.D program, and I am sorry if this is not relevant, but they have quite a skilled research heavy religious studies department, pretty reputable. Milothegradcat
I applied & was accepted to the Drew History & Culture program. I was offered funding to cover most of my tuition but the cost of living in Madison is crazy high. To pay for the remaining tuition & live near enough to commute would've meant taking out way more loan money than I'd ever be able to pay back. Check out cost of living in the area before you make any decisions.

Milothegradcat
PhD. I loved the secluded atmosphere on campus & that it was so close to NYC, but my impression was that the program was geared toward students who could afford it (which unfortunately wasn't me) . . . Hope this helps!

GoldenKola
Unfortunately, I agree with Milo on every point. I too was accepted as a PhD candidate to the H & C Program with most of the tuition covered. However, not only do I get no funding from them but I would have to pay tuition for a PhD. That's an absolute losing situation. It's a nice program, faculty, and campus though. Just a shame that they have very little to offer in terms of financial packages
