Syracuse accepted 83 for 32 spots, Seton Hall offered 104 for 38. I guess these grad programs have it under control. I just assumed that most schools sent out 30 or so spots, waited to hear back, then accepted more when people rejected the offer, and that's what inflated the numbers. I didn't think they accepted so many all at once. don't think they included people on the waitlist only because I didn't notice my friend's email included, but you could be right. Haven't received anything about financial aid yet, but I'd like to know soon!

funny that Seton hall offered so many spots last year, but I and quite a few others have yet to hear from them this year. I notice you have Seton on your list as well, blarneystone87. Hear anything? I know some people are getting waitlisted, but I have a feeling they aren't quite done accepting. I wonder why?

I haven't heard anything from Seton Hall slpf13! I applied at the last minute because I saw they accepted so many. I have prereqs in progress because I'm out of major, so I'm not counting on getting accepted. I think they want people to have all of the prereqs completed when they take students. It's very different that they accept people via phone. Hopefully we'll hear something soon at least!

I also applied late, around mid-late January. I did have all the pre-reqs done though (the speech and hearing related courses as well as the general classes). The notifications by phone are very slow. They seem to trickle in 1 at a time and started back in the beginning of March. I am not too keen on Seton because of the high tuition ($1,033 per credit!!), but it is the closest option I have left so it will be one I consider if I get in. The secretary seems to be handling a lot of applications from her email response rate. I emailed her maybe 3 times total, and she takes like about a month to reply back to my email lol! It just puzzles me why people are being waitlisted when the school is still sending more acceptances (albeit slowly). I really hope we hear soon!

I haven't heard back from Seton Hall yet either, but now that I've gotten into other schools I don't think I would be willing to pay their really high tuition.

I visited Montclair today, and the clinic is beautiful. I'd say I'm like 90% sure I'm going to be attending :)

Greetings everyone! I just received my acceptance letter from Kean and I really do not know too much about the program. Can anybody share some info? Also, are they planning an accepted students day? If so, I'd really love to attend.......

Still waiting to hear back from Queens College, Brooklyn College, Adelphi, LIU-BK, and Northeastern. Geez what are they waiting for?

Yay! I'll be attending Montclair too! I haven't heard back from Seton Hall, but Montclair was always my choice over Seton Hall anyway so that's ok. Still waiting on Temple too but I'm not holding my breath. Of course now that I said that and sent in my Montclair deposit, Murphy's law might kick in and I'll hear some news after the fact! I'll be visiting Montclair again on Wednesday (I went to the open house in the fall) to get some questions answered in person and meet some more people :) slpgal123, if you want to join the MSU accepted students' Facebook group, here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/groups/130556483797805/. There are only 3 of us in it right now, so we'd like to spread the word!

Just got an email from Seton Hall saying they have everything but would now like my Utah State transcript (I started taking classes in the spring). Finally a word from them! Don't think I'm going to send my transcript, though after spending time, money, and effort applying there I'm curious to see if I would be accepted.

I also got an email from them a couple of days ago asking if I planned on taking one of their pre-reqs over the summer. I told them I was, even though I won't be because I've already accepted another admissions offer and don't need the class for my program. I feel the same way as you though; I worked hard on my application and spent the $75 or however much it was for them to review my application, so they're gonna review it! =)

Put down a deposit for NYU today!   :) /

Still going to visit Montclair and think it over more next week though. If I like Montclair's program, I'll just have to lose my deposit at NYU...hope everything works out in the end!

I emailed Tishonda Jones of Seton Hall to let her know I won't be sending my transcript because I've already decided on Montclair. I would have liked to have known if I was accepted or not, but really only for curiosity's sake. Hopefully this will help someone else in some way!

Is anyone else still waiting on William Patterson?

Did anyone go to Montclair's thing today?
I went yesterday for the 2nd time since the fall and fell even more in love with the program. The speech building is completely separate from the main campus with free parking. Students have access to the building 24/7 and the building is less than 3 years old. Everything is new, modern, clean, with some really exciting technology. Eileem Fasanella gave 4 of us a clinic tour and she is so nice and so was everyone else there. If anybody else has any questions, feel free to ask!

Did they by any chance give you any kind of a course schedule? I'm wondering what courses we should all expect to be taking in the fall.

No, they said we would get that at the initial advisement meeting.

I did ask about a course schedule and they couldn't give me one yet. In June we will have to meet in person to schedule our courses. They really seem like they try to accommodate to your preferences the best they can.

For those going to/considering going to Montclair, do you plan on commuting or does anyone plan on finding a place around there?

After a lot of going back and forth, I've officially decided on Montclair :)

Both NYU and Montclair are very different and both have good and bad things. I think my mom brought up an interesting point, which was, "You keep talking about which school is good for you but what about which school would you, in this moment right now in life as a student, do well in?" and Montclair won hands down. NYU would be an amazing experience but I just know that, academically, it would be tough for me. The commute would kill a lot of time that I could have used for studying or just anything. I would just stress out over public transportation before a class or an exam and I think NYU would be a more attractive choice if I were to live in NYC. I love NYU and the city but, as a student, I would just not do well there and it would seem crazy to choose such an expensive school and end up not doing well there.

I also feel like this is the most sensible choice I have ever made in my life (I usually go for the irrational choice to prove everyone wrong!)  :P Good luck to everyone still waiting or deciding!

I'll be commuting since I live 20 mins away  :)

I'm actually moving to a town about 15 mins away, so I'll be driving to school. (I previously thought I would be commuting from Jersey City, but things changed.) I'm very excited to hear about free parking at the new center in Bloomfield though!  I feel like it's unheard of to not have to pay for a permit each semester.

mystiqueSLP, congrats on making you decision! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you in the fall :). I'm definitely excited.

I'm conflicted on my living situation. Honestly, I'm used to living away from my parents (I currently rent a house at college with my friends), so the idea of moving back home is a little weird. I live around 25 minutes away, so clearly its a very doable commute. But then I hear things like we'll have lots of gaps between classes, and then as time goes on we'll have clinic hours in addition, and I could see how it would be really nice to have a place in the area to go back and forth to rather than getting stuck there the whole day. But the prices in the area aren't exactly cheap, so I feel like the smarter decision might be to just move back home.

I don't know... not sure what I'll do as far as that goes haha.

I think after the fall semester, you'll have a good idea of what your schedule will be like and if it'll be easier to get a place nearby or not. My suggestion is to try it for a semester and if you hate it, then move out. You're not alone though, I'm not thrilled about moving back home either!

I'm planning on commuting too which took me about an hour yesterday when I left during non-rush hours. If the commute becomes too much, I'll look into housing which Eileen said she is happy to help people with if they need some advice. Fortunately though, she said in our fall semester we'll only be taking classes which most people have 3 days a week (I hope!) which would be very doable. Then in the second semester, most people begin working in the on-campus clinic where you're assigned 1 or 2 patients to work with. They also have group therapy sessions for kids and adults. They currently have 99 patients visiting the clinic from ages 16 months to 91 years-old which people pay for but at a reduced rate because it's a teaching facility. There is a guy in a booth where you can swipe your student ID to park in the lot which is free. If you wanted to park on the main campus which is about a mile away to go to the gym, financial aid office, etc. I believe you would need a parking permit. But I've also heard that there is a shuttle that runs from the clinic to the main campus so it really looks like you shouldn't have to pay for parking at all! Here is the link to our Montclair Facebook group again: http://www.facebook.com/groups/130556483797805/ if mystique or slpgal want to join! Mystique, congrats on making your decision on Montclair! I hope ald360 and I talked you into it yesterday :)

Great, I'll join! And you two definitely did! The building was just so beautiful as well  :) I'm very happy with my choice!

I just sent a letter to NYU, telling them that I will be declining my acceptance even though I sent a deposit in (there goes $500....).
