Yetanotherdegree Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 I expect to hear back from my application in about a week. I'm not checking my email any more than usual, but I am starting to look expecting that maybe there will be something in there re my application. I'm also logging in to the website every day to see of there's any change to the "thanks for applying, we'll review your application soon" message So, how am I likely to find out? Is checking the website any help at all? Or should I just sit back and wait for a call or email? How did you find out?
Samahito Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Both of my acceptances came from a personal email from the dept. The application page didn't show that I was admitted for several days to a week after that.
crackthesky Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 One of my acceptances came via e-mail, the other via postal mail. My wait list status came over e-mail as well. The only status I received from the website was from Yale, but they sent an e-mail first requesting that you log in to find out your status (where they had just posted a mass rejection letter.) My acceptances are still not posted in any of the online portals. From my experience, your best bet is to continue checking your e-mail and postal mail! It seems the online systems are the very last to be updated.
cui-bono Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 The two places I've applied that have actually have an application page to check are also the two places I've yet to definitively hear from. Go figure.
Seatbelt Blue Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Neither Fordham nor BC's app pages tell you anything besides whether you've actually finished applying.
NT-Scholar Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 I don't think the websites are often that helpful for finding out your status, but since everyone is so anxious to know I doubt many are able to stop looking. I have received emails or letters from every program. Baylor was the only school to which I applied that utilized the website for indicating their application status, but they sent an email as well. Even the two schools to which I have been accepted have not posted anything on their websites/application page showing I'm accepted.
Itsalongshot Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I applied to the NELC dept at Ohio State and on Thursday the decision of my application appeared. But I have yet to receive an email or letter from the University. So in this case, the website application center was the first, and only place so far, where I found out what was going on!
