Waitlisters

Post here if you care to wait with me in all your anxious glory. Where are you waitlisted? Are you gonna wait?

 

I am on Oregon's waitlist and it is the only "offer" I have. If anyone declines Oregon, I'd love to know... I think.

I was waitlisted at Colorado State. Fortunately, I have been accepted to other programs with funding. Unfortunately, Colorado was/is one of my top choices. In my mind I'm already preparing to go to one of these other schools, but if I am pleasantly surprised with an acceptance I will just have to make that decision when the time comes! Good luck to you--I know the waiting SUCKS!

I'm waitlisted (or "still active" as they call it) at Stanford, which was one of my top choices.  I have other offers, so, like Greenbeans, I am currently just deciding between those schools.  I am definitely going to wait to make a final decision until I get word on my waitlist, but I'm trying not to think about it too much right now as an actual contender...

I also got two other acceptances, but both are essentially unfunded, so for me it's either my top choice or another round of applications :-(

I'm waitlisted at U of Michigan. I was accepted with full funding at my undergrad institution (Bowling Green), and accepted at Temple - still waiting to hear about funding. As of now, UofM trumps all if I get in, though I'd much rather live in Philly than Ann Arbor.

Hopkins waitlister here. All I received is a bunch of rejections up to now. Congrats to all those mysterious ones who got in. Feel free to decline anytime. Little hope though...

Waitlisted at Washington which is my top choice.

 

I'm accepted at NCSU, so its not a total wash if I don't get off. But I am starting to have crazy dreams about getting that acceptance letter. Fingers crossed.

Waitlisted at Cornell; might attend if I got in but probably not. Also waitlisted at Duke but it's not a good fit.

Debating how much to drag this out since I'm pretty certain that I won't get off Cornell's waitlist and also fairly certain I wouldn't attend even if I did.

I'm in the same position at Santa Cruz. I'm sort of curious as to whether I will get off the wait list but it is unlikely that I would attend.

I made the extremely difficult decision today to turn down Michigan, Chicago, and Northwestern. I wish the best of luck to everyone who is waitlisted at these programs. As someone who snuck into grad school the first time around with basically no funding, only to find myself juggling offers from four of the top programs in the country, I want to say emphatically that if you're on a waitlist at a place like this, you have every bit as much talent as the people who are winning endowed fellowships. The difference is that their signals are clearer than yours. If you don't luck out this time around, clean up your signals: improve your test scores, enter a MA program and excel in it, get better letters of recommendation that really center on your ability to do independent research, and/or -- most important -- polish up your writing sample and write a focused, intellectually mature SOP. Knock em dead. Best of luck.

Just noticed that someone got accepted to UNC-Chapel Hill off the waitlist! Congratulations!

I was waitlisted at University of Calgary, and it was the only program I registered for. After being on the waitlist for over a month and hearing that nearly a dozen others were on it, I gave up and ended up taking courses for a second degree instead. Just two days ago I got an email saying that I was accepted. Now I feel like an idiot because I already spent money on courses, but at least I was accepted!

I'm waitlisted for funding at UPenn and waitlisted at Hopkins. I have other options, but I think those two are my top choices, so fingers crossed!

I contacted UCI and was informed that I am on the wait-list there. It sounds like they have up to three rounds of acceptances so I'm not sure which "tier" I'm in.

Well, I received some extra news from Oregon. They offered 8 people admission for 5 spots. There are 3 on the waitlist in no particular order. Only one has accepted. So, it seems like I need at least 4 people out of 7 to decline for a 33% chance of admission. It could be worse right? Right?
