Notice of acceptance

I was just accepted to cranbrook for 2d design and they want a notice of acceptance by April third, but this is too early. I have an interview at yale on the 1st and won't know from them until the 6th, should I send a polite email asking for an extension or is this bad form? I don't see any other option really.

I think you can. Maybe mention that you are very interested in the program, but you want to make the most informed decision you possibly can (I did this recently and the program director at the school was totally understanding. They've probably heard everything there is to hear from applicants.)
