Hi all,

I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice so I can make the decision between these two programs.

Chapman is a 10 month program, about $13,000 with tuition & fees, and has class Fridays 5-9:30 PM and Saturday 8-5PM. 2 courses are taken at a time and rotate every other week (even week class 1, odd week class 2) and are taken in 5 week quarters. The program offers SLPA certification at the end of the program (at an additional cost).  I technically could apply for the 2014 application cycle, but would only have 4 classes under my belt by December.

CSUF is a 2-5 semester program, which I would do in 3 semesters so I could take 4 classes at a time. Tuition and fees ends up at roughly $12,000. Class schedules are like traditional college classes (M-F). I would be eligible to apply for the 2015 application cycle (because my classes wouldn't be finished in time to start in August, because I'm pretty sure the classes aren't offered in summer.

I am leaning towards Chapman because I could apply next year, but I think my stats would not be competitive enough to apply in 2014 in the first place and Ill end up applying in 2015 just like I would have at CSUF. Thoughts?

Thanks guys!!!!

It wouldn't hurt to apply to Chapman just to see what happens. Definitely, definitely, definitely play up your great experience in your SOP and CV!

Also, there are lots of other post-bacc options if it doesn't work out; you may want to consider applying to more programs including those that are online.

Good luck!

Thanks Latte Macchiato! I was accepted to both but now I need to pick :(. So stressful thinking I could do the programs and still be years away from starting my masters!

I'm in the same boat as you so I definitely understand how you feel. Congratulations on your acceptance to both programs! I have a friend who is currently in Chapman's program and she definitely stresses on how challenging it is.

Though it may take longer, we just have to stay focused! I wish you the best of luck as you make your decision.

CSUF's administration is terrible. I was accepted there for my post-bacc, but ended up doing it online with USU. Chapman's administration is responsive and friendly. I've heard from people doing their post-bacc at CSUF that they had trouble getting into classes because they admitted too many students, but that was a couple of years ago. Hopefully they've worked out that issue.

Thanks for the info!
