amyboo91 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I applied to the Developmental Psychology and Education program at OISE. It has two streams- Master of Arts and Master of Education. I applied to the MA because I do not have any teaching qualifications. A few weeks ago I called OISE because I had another school to respond to, and they told me if I hadn't heard anything I wasn't accepted (they didn't even look up my information, which was irritating...but anyways). Today I finally received the letter from OISE- it was a rejection to the MA, which I was expected. But there was also an acceptance to the MEd. Has anyone had this happen before? How can I be accepted to something I did not apply for? I don't even think I meet the requirements. Is it a mistake? I'm afraid of getting my hopes up haha.
scholarlypartier Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 The same thing happened to me... I applied to two funded MA programs at OISE and was not accepted, but they offered the unfunded MEd instead, which I did not apply for. They only admit 3-4 students per year for the funded MAs... The MEd is just less research based. It means that they liked your application and would still like you to attend albeit in a different program.
amyboo91 Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 Thanks for the response! That clears it up a bit. I didn't know they accepted so few students to the funded MAs.
