kdavid
I'm interested in pursuing an MA/PhD in International Relations with the hopes of going on to work in a think tank. I have two questions: 1. Which programs are renown for their focus on Sino-American international relations? 2. Which scholars are renown for their focus on Sino-American international relations? Thanks in advance! mrgreen102
I don't know of any graduate programs that solely concentrate on Sino-American studies. There are a number of programs that concentrate on Asian countries and these countries' foreign policy. The U.S. relations would certainly be a major component of that foreign policy. Most IR graduate schools allow you to specialize in "China Studies" but that just means there are 3-4 professors who teach classes about China. There are a few programs that have a real specialization in this area. Here are two you should check out: 1) UC San Diego School of International Relations and Pacific Studies 2) University of British Columbia Master of Asia Pacific Policy Studies
IRToni
GWU has David Shambaugh, who's a real expert. Also, it's an up-and-coming department, and due to their location, they regularly place people in think tanks. ValarDohaeris
kdavid
GWU has David Shambaugh, who's a real expert. I actually just finished his book on the CCP. I've picked up his most recent as well. I really like his writing style and direction. I may reach out to him for more details.
