Hi All,

I got an offer for PhD from Trinity College Dublin. I would like to know the quality and prospect of PhD studies  in TCD and in Ireland general.

Regards,

Lin

is the PhD in CS? Either way I think most people here are aiming at universities in the north america, so you probably should ask in another sub-forum here..

I visited TCD once. Its pretty beautiful and thus full of tourists. According to my professor, the research at Trinity College is very good. Though, he was only talking about the area of networks.

Also note that Ireland is very expenisve. A beer in the supermarket is around 4 bucks. I would guess you need at least 1000 euros a month for rent and food.

Out of curiosity: Do you get financial support in Ireland? If yes, how much?

Yes, I am getting financial support. The standard PhD salary in Ireland is 1.3K Euro per month. It is not much. But I hope I can live with it.

If you don't want to go out that often you should be fine.

Though, Temple Bar is right next door and a wonderful place to party... If I think more about it. You should definitely accept the offer :D
