eft4790 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Hey everyone, So I am considering getting an iPad for grad school. I'm curious if anyone here has ever purchased a refurbished iPad through Apple? I don't really think I need a brand NEW one, so I feel like this is a much better option. Anyways, I would love to hear from people who might have bought a refurbished one. Which one you decided to buy ... what your opinion of it is ... etc. Thanks a lot!
icthere Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I think it's really a good idea. I recently bought a refurbished Macbook from Apple website and honestly, I can't tell that it's not new although it was $500 cheaper than the new ones. I did some research on the internet and I could almost find no complaints from people who shopped the refurbished store on Apple website.
Eigen Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I got mine refurbed (using it now). Can't really tell the difference- they replace the battery and shell, so pretty much good as new. I actually have found them anecdotally more reliable, as they've gotten a second check and any issues fixed.
aapril Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I bought a refurb iPad 2 that looked brand new and functioned perfectly. I also just bought a refurb macbook air for the fall that is spotless on the surface and works like a new machine. I'm am completely sold on buying Apple products from the refurb bin. As mentioned, these items do seem to be more reliable as all the kinks are worked out before they resell them. As a comparison, when I bought my macbook pro back in '09 (brand new), less than 1 month in the disk drive malfunctioned. Save some money and headache over potential malfunctions and go for the refurb.
socanth Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Also writing this on an ipad (3) refurb - the other thing to remember is that refurbished apple products come with the same warranty as new products, and are also still eligible for AppleCare, so it's not too much of a gamble!
