Did any of you take a year off before starting grad school? If so, do you believe that it was a wise choice for you?

Suggestions, comments, please  :)

I am sorta taking a year long break. I am not taking any classes.

My best advice continue building your CV. I don't know about you, but I am already feeling like something is missing without classes. Right now, I am working on publication and conference-ing.

Now, my situation could be different because I earned my MA in Socs and I am taking a year off before my PhD.

I took three years off.  I wouldn't have been ready for school straight out, and it gave me time to really think about what I wanted to do in graduate school.

I'm taking this year off to be with my family before leaving for 5 years. I also wanted to make sure I miss school as much as I thought I might (I DO!).

I took 20 years off between undergrad and grad...mostly spent that time at home with kids (though there was some school in there also).
