I'm applying for SLP in Fall 2014. My GPA is currently about a 3.3 overall, and 3.6 in the major. I'm taking 4 major classes right now, and I'm confident that I'll get A's in all of them. Because of this, I'd like to wait to send my transcripts until this semester is over. However, I know a lot of my friends are planning on being done with their applications by the end of this weekend (it's my University's Fall Break). Am I able to submit my applications and then wait until December to send my transcripts? Or does this vary by school? I was also wondering about this for the CSDCAS - three of my schools are on it.

Thanks!

I was going to try to do this as well (for some reason I feel that my GPA is bound to improve this semester, haha) but since 4 of my schools use the CSDCAS and some of their deadlines are Jan. 1st, I'm not going to try to risk it by waiting to send my fall 2014 grades. I think I read somewhere that it's recommended you complete your CSDCAS application at least 4 weeks before it's due so that it has time to get to your chosen school(s). Since I know my grades won't be available until late December, that's just not an option for me. So if you're in the same boat and some of your CSDCAS applications are due Jan. 1st, I'd play it safe and not wait for 2014 grades and just send your current transcript in by Dec. 1.

CSDCAS requires an initial transcript before you even get that far in the application. I went ahead and sent that in. Then once December 18th comes there is like a week of 'open' time when you are allowed to resend in transcripts. That is what I am doing.

If it is CSDCAS, the transcript requirements are different.  Most of the "national student clearinghouse" systems that the universities use allow you to request transcripts to be sent once the end of the term grades post.  The only gamble with that is if you have any January 15th application deadlines (like UNC and some others).  You could put a rush on those if you anticipate any delays in sending the transcripts; consult with your current university registrar's office about how long transcripts are sent if you request them to wait until grades post.

If your deadlines are not until February or March, you may be very safe in requesting the "wait until grades post" -- which I would advocate in your case especially because the A's you anticipate may be the "make or break" aspect of your application when it reaches the ad-comms.

My three schools on the CSDCAS are Radford, Tennessee, and Southern Alabama. Southern Alabama and Radford are both due February 1st with an "orange" designation ( COMPLETED APPLICATION REQUIRED Applicants must have a complete application by the deadline date posted. A complete application requires that the application is e-submitted and all transcripts and payments have been received by CSDCAS and attached to the application. Documents should be sent to CSDCAS several weeks prior to the deadline date to ensure all items arrive on time) and Tennessee is due January 1st with a "blue" designation ( E-SUBMITTED APPLICATION REQUIRED Applicants must e-submit their CSDCAS application by 11:59pm EST on the deadline date posted. Documents are not required to be received by the deadline date.)

Do y'all think I'm safe waiting to submit transcripts then? How long does it take the CSDCAS to receive and complete the application in regards to transcripts? If it makes a difference, my University offers a way to email transcripts...would that be a faster process?

As an undergraduate from South Alabama, your STATS and APPLICATION must be on point.  If you didn't score at least 1000 on the GRE, do not waste your money.  Their website may say 800, but Dr. Dagenais (application chair member) said we are looking for students who scored 1000 or better.  They rely heavily on the GRE.
