samen Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Hi, I have been accepted on that day but no info on financial aid Congrats! It is too soon to think that there is not any financial support. I think that you will hear about it later . . .
xGeek Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Hello! Does anybody know when are Stanford's MS&E PhD decisions going out? Their FAQ page says early February.
samen Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) With the start of the second week of February, we can expect to hear from more programs. Based on the previous years results, Industrial Engineering programs have started sending out their decisions around Feb. 15 I think that UC Berkeley will reject those who have not received an offer (like me) until Feb 14. I hope best of luck for all. Edited February 8, 2014 by samen

warwicker Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Received rejection from Columbia IEOR for the PhD program but email states that they find me suitable for the Masters program and ask if I am keen before they surface my application to the committee for deliberation. Does it mean that I have a high chance of getting admitted to the Masters (MSOR) program? And if so, should I do the Masters program first and apply again during my course of studies for the PhD program? Would that put me in a better state for the PhD. My end state is to graduate with a PhD. For discussion.

samen Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I am applying for PhD in Industrial engineering and operations resesearch. has anyone got admit from Berkeley? I haven't heard from them If you look at the result page or even this thread, you will see that some people have received their acceptances. But, I guess, people like me and you will be rejected until the end of this week because it seems that Berkeley has notified all accepted applicants around two weeks ago . . .

I don't think that 's true , you have to be a bit more optimistic !!

Foolhardy Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Thanks folks, This was my first rejection, I already got into UT Austin, TAMU and NCSU, waiting for the rest! STATS: GRE: Q:166 V:160 AW:4 UNDERGRAD GPA: 3.5 (International) GRAD GPA: 4 (TAMU) Several publications and conference presentations!
Foolhardy Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Samen, How was the UCSD interview? Any other news?
samen Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) Samen, How was the UCSD interview? Any other news? It was good but not great! There is no other news for me. The interview was Jan 23 but I have not heard anything from that time. Does this mean that I have not been successful in impressing them to admit me?! Edited February 10, 2014 by samen

STATS: GRE: Q:166 V:160 AW:4 UNDERGRAD GPA: 3.5 (International) GRAD GPA: 4 (TAMU) Several publications and conference presentations! With such records, I should say that they could admit you. I think that if your Quant score was above 168 AND/OR if your UNDERGRAD GPA was above 3.8, now you were admitted by Columbia. Anyway, your records are good enough to be admitted in a prestigious program . . .

Yeah I guess my undergrad GPA is kind of a red flag...I don't know, after this rejection there is not much hope left for the others...

samen Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Yeah I guess my undergrad GPA is kind of a red flag...I don't know, after this rejection there is not much hope left for the others... For which other programs you have applied?
warwicker Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 So UT Austin has already sent out their admits?
samen Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) So UT Austin has already sent out their admits? First they send out some admits in late January, but they continue to send out more admits until March 15. Their program is not very competitive compared with other programs like Columbia or Berkeley. The later programs tend to send out all admits at once. Edited February 11, 2014 by samen
Foolhardy Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 For which other programs you have applied? Michigan--> invited to graduate visit Northwestern Berkeley Stanford UCLA USC Carnigie Mellon (OR) Tepper School of Business UNC, Chapel Hill (OR and Stat) NYU(Stern)
