I am in the process of applying to Chicago, the Jewish Theological Seminary, Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies (part of Yeshiva University), and potentially Spertus Institute for a Masters in Jewish Studies/Talmud.

I've already picked two of the big Jewish schools but I feel like I'm missing out on stellar programs on other secular universities.

 Does anyone have any suggestions?

Jewish Studies is a very very broad field. There are faculty in 'theology' departments (a term usually used by western Christians) that have plenty of great people who work in Jewish Studies.

As far as random stereotypes that come to mind, Brandeis and HUC.

Depends on what level you're talking about - Masters or PhD? Undergrad?

What I plan on studying specifically is Talmud at the Masters level. I've already completed an undergraduate degree in Jewish Studies with a dual focus on Jewish legal texts and Jewish philosophy.

NYU perhaps? University of California at Berkley. Columbia has a graduate program in Talmud and Jewish Studies. And there's always Yeshiva University.

Those are still pretty broad areas. Honestly just browse through the 'top' programs and see if anyone suits your interests. How much Hebrew/Aramaic do you have? That may largely determine where you go, too.

I have a great deal of Hebrew/Aramaic under my belt.

I'll just have to look into it more.

Thanks!
