olamiss Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I've been focusing on nutrition and the effects of sustained malnutrition on long-term development (both economic and social) and no, I haven't figured it all out yet. Still waiting to hear back from idev programs. Where are you looking/what're you hoping to study/research? USF has dual concentration and you can also individualized it to what suits you.
csoucy Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Another article by anthropologist Johanna Crane is quite thought provoking on the field of global health. Things to consider as we all gear up to enter the Global Health profession. http://www.humanosphere.org/2014/02/dark-heart-global-health/

Jshapiro Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I am choosing between an MPH in Global Health from Emory and an MPH in Family and Population Health with a Global Health Certificate from Columbia. I am living abroad so I can't visit. Does anyone have any insight?
buckeye34 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I'm choosing between USC Global Health and UC Denver (Anschutz medical campus) Global Health/Maternal and Child Health.
csoucy Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 My schools to chose from are Tulane - International Health Programs and UC Denver - Global Health Systems, Management and Policy. I think I am leaning more towards Denver because of in-state tuition for Western state residents, the WHO collaborative center and all of the beautiful mountains to climb! Any other future UC Denver students out there?
Froix Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Hi! I am choosing between NYU Global Health Leadership and Columbia Population&Family Health department with a Global Health Certificate. Until last week, I was pretty convinced to attend NYU that accepted my application in early February but then I got accepted to Columbia last Thursday (I thought I had no real options to get in), so now I don't know where to enroll, Columbia is an Ivy league university, it has a school of public health and there would be opportunities for research assistantships to help pay the tuition, (as an international student I can only work on campus), however I haven't receive any funding package until now. I did completed a survey about funding on Monday, but I haven't receive any further information. On the other hand, NYU is a really good university, and they offer me a scholarship of $8000 +$8000 (2nd year) but it doesn't have a school of public health, so I am not sure what to think about that. Does it really matters? Would it be harder to find a job? I also search some professors, and many of them are from Wagner, the school of public service, so I wonder if they are more into policy and management rather than global health. I'll go to prospective students events in both universities in the following weeks, but any insight would be much appreciated.

Yes I am interested in Health Management with a global focus, but I have applied to a few schools that just have a generalist Global health degree: Vanderbilt & WashU. I applied to Emory in the Global health department with the community health and development specialization, but, otherwise, I am applying to HPM pograms with the aim of pursuing a concentration or certificate in global health. Which schools are you applying to and what are you looking to concentrate in? Do you know anything about Boston U's Global Health program versus WashU's? I'm trying to figure out if paying more at Boston will be worth it.
