changing reference after submitting app?

So if the application system doesn't let you change reference info (name, email) after you submitted 

 

AND  

 

somewhere on the website it says 'they won't be able to change essays or any other part of application' after you submitted

 

Do you think there's no chance they'll let you change one of your reference writers?   

 

The original writer I had was MIA as the deadline approached. I confirmed with him (albeit a long time ago ) that he can write the letter, but since he was MIA (I contacted his personal assistant... no use. he usually replies promptly), I didn't feel good about having a reference request sent to him (Thought that may seem a bit rude). So I put in info of a reference that I was able secure last minute, but now that I heard back from the original writer I had in mind, I would really like to submit the original writer's letter instead...... 

 

Any tips guys?

Yes. Call the admission office. I had to do the same thing last week. They changed it with no questions asked.
