smartypants14 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Hi Everyone, I wanted to get advice on what I should do. One of my letter writers has yet to submit three of my letters. They said they would be able to pick up my information this past friday, but nothing has been submitted yet. The deadlines are January 15th (East Bay, San Jose, UCF). Should i pursue someone else or hope for the best this week? Thank You.
NCAR823 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Have you written them a reminder email? Sometimes it helps. I had a professor that literally waited until January 1st when my application was due to submit. I had sent her a reminder email in addition to resending the CSDCAS letter of recommendation request. In the meantime, I had asked another professor to write one and she finished it the next day. I suggest reaching, give a call if you have a phone number, and consider asking an additional professor. dial1010usa Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 What do you suggest out of 3 LOR's, who should she get it from? 2 from teachers and 1 from employer or vice versa?
caterpillar Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Most school sites I've seen have said that a minimum of 2 letters should be from professors, rather than employers.
NCAR823 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 typically, a person who can speak to your academic ability is favorable. I have 1 prof. from my undergrad, 2 prof from post-bacc, 1 from a teacher from my Montessori training program, and 1 from an SLP colleague. I was going to delete one of my post-bacc prof's letters on the 1st because I had 4 at that point, but that was the day she submitted it. I hope having 5 isn't too much....

I also have 5 and I submitted them to all the schools that DIDN'T set a maximum requirement...I hope that this was ok as well!
