Saad91 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 So, I am applying for Harvard Divinity School, and today is the deadline and one my recommenders has still not submitted my rec letter although he promised he would do so by the deadline! I still haven't submitted the application and the fee. And the admission office says they are very hard about the deadline, which means no document should reach them after the stated deadline. Now, what should I do? I am probably not getting my LOR today. Should I even bother submitting my app? Would the adcom even consider it given that they are so particular about the deadline? Or I'd be just wasting my app fee here? Need your suggestions please, especially from some HDS person!
doobiebrothers Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 don't worry about it.apply. professors get a late-letter pass. also you're from pakistan, which makes things interesting--you'll be interesting to the adcom!
doobiebrothers Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 pm me if you need more info or have more questions
Macrina Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 There is almost always more flexibility with LOR writers than with applicants. Go ahead and submit, then get extra-persistent with your LOR source.
MsBOOM Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Submit! I had a professor turn hers in over a month late, and I still got in!
Saad91 Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 Thank you everyone! I submitted the application yesterday. Apparently I was fretting for nothing! Now, the waiting game begins. Wish me luck!
11Q13 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Don't sweat it. One of my Harvard professors was, himself, late for turning in my letter to Harvard! He was head of the ad-comm for I don't know how long, but he said rather nonchalantly not to worry about it.
