CoCo.☆ Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) I've applied to five schools (all Ph.D.), both in Canada and U.S., and waiting for results. Yet, I haven't heard back from any school. It's REALLY hard to just sit and wait, though I know there aren't other options... How are you coping with the stress? And if you have heard back from any schools, could you share? Thank you all! CoCo.☆ Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 Hello there! I've applied for UBC, U of Toronto, Indiana U, U of Michigan, and Penn State. All LLC, LLED, and the like. But I chose applied linguistics for Penn State. Except for Penn State, all the other schools had a quite early deadline (Dec. 1 or 2) but so far I haven't heard anything..

I applied for Penn Edu ling, Umass LLC, Boston College C&I, and UIUC C&I with langauge and literacy emphasis. If you don't mind me asking who do you want to work with at UIUC? I am currently in the program now. If you feel more comfortable to send me a personal message then that is fine as well. Good luck! Edited January 20, 2014 by bellefast
j7887 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 It is really soooooo hard waiting. It seems like the sciences are getting the admissions decisions much faster than other disciplines…or is that just me being paranoid? Or perhaps that's common knowledge…. Anyway, we're talking life decisions here, people…please please please let the notifications come soon!
lucerovespertino Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I'm in the same boat! Most of my deadlines were in December, but I haven't heard anything yet. AHHHHHH.
j7887 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Anyone hear from Indiana U. - Literacy, Culture & Language Education PhD?
CoCo.☆ Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Anyone hear from Indiana U. - Literacy, Culture & Language Education PhD? So far I couldn't hear anything from the program.
girlbat Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 For language and literacy emphasis, I applied UC Santa Barbara and Stanford (in their SHIPS emphasis). There were two acceptances posted on results page VERY early in January (Deadline was in mid-December so I was really surprised and confused by that). No news other than seeing those. Anyone have Santa Barbara info? Stanford says Feb. 15.
JustHopeful Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I applied to Harvard's language and literacy program. Anyone else?

Hi Coco, Have you heard from UBC yet? My partner applied to UBC also, but she hasn't had any news so far. Good luck!
Johnny Fang Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Hi, I applied for IU, too. Just got accepted. What department did you apply for? Studies in second language or Education department? Johnny Fang Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Hi, it seems that they're just done with the review process. I just wrote a letter to ask about my status and they replied with the results, also saying the packet is airmailed and will take a while to reach me. So far I couldn't hear anything from the program.
