Hello

I applied to four different programs (MS and Psy D) in school psychology and heard back from three schools for interview.

Unfortunately I live in South Korea and cant fly over to the States for interview. Do you think it's inappropriate to ask for Skype interview instead after explaining my situation?

I think it's perfectly acceptable to request a Skype interview since you are so far away. Congrats!

I also don't think it's inappropriate to ask if they'd be willing to fly you out, if an in-person interview is important, and if you ask in the right way. By "the right way" I mean that you acknowledge that it's really expensive and wouldn't fault them for saying no.

Are any of your programs near each other?  When I did my visits I combined two schools into one trip so that they could share costs.

Hope one of your programs isn't Fordham. On other threads I've seen people report that they insist on in-person interviews and won't pay travel expenses either. Jerks.

Pal, that's important to know that it is only about FOrdham COUNSELING not CLINICAL PhD program (as far as I know).

I think it's completely normal to ask about skype interview.

I had to do it because of a conference that overlapped with my interview dates. They're usually very willing to accept the situation--it's not going to be the first time that they've heard such a request from a potential student.
