Just wondering, does anyone know anything or have any evidence to support something like the idea that the time of the day bears anything like a correlative relationship with respect to number of notifications being sent? I'm just sort of curious, really. More likely in the morning/afternoon/evening? Just curious.

Ha! I enjoyed this comment.

I'm not sure, but I'm curious too (though skeptical there's a significant correlation). I've been accepted to two schools so far between 3 and 4pm CST both of which are on central time as well.

I think that time of day makes sense - I would think committees would convene to discuss their evaluations of applicants at some point during regular hours to decide who they're comfortable making offers to before the end of the day. For that reason, I'd be surprised if there are all that many morning offers (pre-11AM in the school's timezone). That's just a guess though.

My acceptance was received at 9:54 AM CST (which was 7:54 AM for the school that sent it). On the other hand, it was in the form of an email from the graduate admissions office. They probably work on a different time table than the faculty at philosophy departments.

We're seeing quite a few acceptances in the late afternoon, Eastern time.  But we've seen so many at other hours, so I don't think we can make anything of this.  UNC sent out acceptances at 5 a.m. Eastern time.  Last weekend, acceptances went out on a Sunday night.  Hard to predict these things.

It'd be like asking me to predict when I'll next brew some coffee.  Maybe in the morning, but gee, I've been known to have coffee at all hours.
