Tenbu Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I was recently accepted into an MFA program for painting for 2014. The program awarded almost a 50% merit based scholarship to me, and I would like to attend but I am still paying off my BFA and am trying to avoid a massive amount of debt. Has anyone heard of any supplemental grants/scholarships that I could apply for? I am looking online, but not finding too many, below are a couple I've found. Joan Mitchell - not accepting for 2014 Dedalus Foundation - missed deadline (totally my fault for being underprepared) I wonder if you could help, or if we could make a forum topic about supplemental grants/scholarships for future use.
seeingeyeduck Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 From what I was reading it seemed like a lot of scholarships are applied for during the first year. It makes sense as maybe then the faculty know who they want to nominate or give those to based on the work during that year. Maybe I'm wrong, but I researched what to apply to and was really confused about why you had to already be in grad school to apply. Maybe someone can clarify. There was this great thing called the Javits, which was a huge $60k grant but they've phased the individual app out to be institution-based, so an institution nominates you. Too bad
