Johnny_Boy Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Hi there, I received fellowships from top universities and have sent my POI at another top university an updated resume with the fellowships. I can't update my application folder, though. So it is OK if I did that as I fear he would consider he being one of my options? Will it have a positive impact on my application from the updated resume sent to him? Thanks
Between Fields Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Probably not? I mean, you've been offered funding options at other universities, and are now trying to use them as leverage to get into his program? That doesn't sound like a smart move. Monochrome Spring 1
RomulusAugustulus Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 These are fellowships you've been offered to study at other schools? That probably isn't a great move. I think it's only appropriate to put a fellowship you actually accept on your resume. If you get a fellowship to do a PhD at school X, but decline to go to school Y, that fellowship from X shouldn't be on your resume. If, on the other hand, these are fellowships from 3rd party sources that would allow you to study at any school, then it's absolutely ok that you added them to your resume and that you sent the updated resume.
