Cottagecheeseman Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Best wishes from me to you. what's your AOI if you don't mind me asking?
ProspectiveGradStudent Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Broadly, phil. of mind and phil. of religion.
Cottagecheeseman Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Broadly, phil. of mind and phil. of religion. Cool, it's a good place for that. I've met both Merricks and Langsam, and they know that kind of stuff and are really great. You'll probably love UVA, which is bad news for me, but good news for you.
ProspectiveGradStudent Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 If I accept, I hope somebody else with overlapping AOI will relinquish their spot for you.
Cottagecheeseman Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 If I accept, I hope somebody else with overlapping AOI will relinquish their spot for you. SO DO I! And after knowing people who went/go to UVA and looking at your acceptances, I can't imagine you going elsewhere, lol, but who knows!
ProspectiveGradStudent Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 We'll see! I should add that you shouldn't look down on your writing sample too much. At least with UVa, there were apparently 26 people competing for each individual spot this year. Your sample must've caught the eye of the committee for you to have been waitlisted at all.

How many spots are there?

prepare2deluze Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Who do you email about planning these visits? An assistant director or something?
Hopephily Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Who do you email about planning these visits? An assistant director or something? If it's an unsolicited visit, I'm not sure. Probably the director of graduate studies or the director of admissions (for graduate studies).
prepare2deluze Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 If it's an unsolicited visit, I'm not sure. Probably the director of graduate studies or the director of admissions (for graduate studies). No - I received an email inviting me today. They didn't offer to pay for it though.
DHumeDominates Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) Is anyone attending Yale's visiting period (April 8-9)? Edited March 21, 2014 by DHumeDominates
humean_skeptic Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Is anyone attending Yale's visiting period (April 8-9)? Yes, but Yale doesn't know that. ( I didn't apply. Sshhhh, don't tell them.) humean_skeptic and DHumeDominates 2
