despejado Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) Yeahhh . . . failing HS Chemistry was not enough of a lesson to me - for some reason I decided to try it again in College. Actually - the only other option was called "Applied Science," and the course called "Chemistry for Everyone" with a course description that discussed cooking and "everyday applications" made it sound like Chemistry for Kindergarteners . . . instead I am stuck with a woman who still uses an overhead project and during a lab in which the instructions told us specifically to shake our test tubes VIGOROUSLY, didn't tell us not to actually shake the test tubes until we all did it and got chlorine bleach all over ourselves . . . so I'm regretting my very existence at this moment, and in any moment that includes the utterance of ions and molarity. Actually - as a Native NJ girl - I am familiar with the concept of a Cheesesteak, and I *mostly* approve (much more into the Pizza & Bagel, gotta be a stereotype!). My application doesn't say anything - but that might be because I didn't decide to apply until last week, and I had to wait to get paid to send my GREs & transcripts. I'm really hoping the late arrival of those docs doesn't kill me for funding, but it probably will. (i'm not even going to proof-read this before posting, so excuse my tired head if this is totally non-coherent & includes wacky spellings.) Oh my goodness... Labs. Good things have never happened to me in labs. I one time exploded some glassware in Chem in high school. I don't even remember how. Didn't break it, though... Exploded it. I sent my app in like a day or two before, but it looks like all the documents managed to get there in time. Nova doesn't require official transcripts, just the uploaded ones, so you should be good on that front, and I HIGHLY doubt late GRE scores will hurt you in regards to funding. The pizza and bagel are acceptable alternatives. Motion granted. I am also tired but I have to study. It isn't really working... Edited March 5, 2014 by despejado
Eternal Optimist Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 My interview went on well! It couldn't have gone any better. The faculty were wonderful, kind, friendly and we laughed a lot. Hopefully, they like me enough to fund me

iExcelAtMicrosoftPuns Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Hello BowTiesarecool Ahoy! How's the water in the unfounded MA seas?
Eternal Optimist Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Very rough! I am going to get seasick very soon! How are you? I recall reading you are waiting for funding info from Louisville. Am I correct? Have you been accepted or wait listed to other programs? Sorry if sound nosy. Just dunno what else to ask
Eternal Optimist Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Placed on wait list at Auburn! Another wait list!
gms8454 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 For those who have gotten accepted to Villanova, how long did it take from the time you submitted your application to receive a decision? I'm really anxious to know if I got in. It's my top choice and it looks like a really great school.

Good luck to you, and let me know how it goes I just officially accepted my offer there today.

Good luck to you, and let me know how it goes I just officially accepted my offer there today. Thanks! The waiting is killing me. I submitted my application on Feb. 28th, but I applied for a dual program--the M.A. in English with a certificate in communications, so that may add time on. I hope I hear soon! I'm glad you accepted. It seems like such a great school.

I know the english department has finished deliberations, but the communications department might be holding you back from getting your notification. I would imagine they're not as fast as the english department (who could blame them?!). I'm so excited about the program and the location and really the whole deal! I'll be visiting in early April and I'm counting the days. Fingers crossed we'll be cohorts! Edited March 11, 2014 by despejado
gms8454 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Really? How do you know they've finished reviewing? I hope that doesn't mean bad news for my application. Maybe I submitted it too late. Thank you for the info and kind words. I'm crossing my fingers too! Thank you for the info and kind words. I'm crossing my fingers too! The email I received from the DGS said that the english department had "completed their deliberations". I was awarded a fellowship, so they may have notified me early (only seen one other acceptance go up, and that was in Feb). Don't worry yet! I submitted my app a day before you, so it wasn't too late. Don't give up hope!

I'm such a nervous wreck, but I really want to go there. I don't really know how a dual program works. I was hoping that perhaps the English department would still notify me of their decision even if the Comm. department wasn't done deliberating, since English would be my primary program.

I really think most places notify fellowships early, so it's very possible that they haven't notified anyone. But no, I don't think you would bother the DGS by contacting and asking about your status. She really is incredibly sweet.
gms8454 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I did get the impression that she is a friendly person. That's part of what draws me to the school. It just seems to have such a nice atmosphere about it. I know not everyone uses this site, but I would think that if everyone had been notified, there would still be more than two acceptances posted. Thanks for chatting with me. I feel a little bit better now.
