Hey everyone! I'm finishing up my third year of university right now, so I'll be applying for a number of programs starting in October of this year. I know there isn't a ton of time left, but does anyone have any suggestions for ways I could try to improve my chances of getting in? How do my chances of getting in sound?

I'm going to be applying to the University of Alberta, Dalhousie, McGill, U of T, and UWO.

I have a cumulative average of 89.5. Only finals will tell for sure, but my average for this past year is probably going to be around 91-92.

I'm a research assistant with a Linguistics professor who works with a language in Papua New Guinea.

Last year I volunteered for a 6-week program where I read with students who had speech-language difficulties. I also volunteered with an SLP a few times, and I'm going to be meeting with her again starting pretty soon. I'll also been doing the reading program again.

I've done volunteer work with Canadian Blood Services for about two years now. I know that doesn't have a lot to do with SLP, but at least it's something!

I'm really nervous for the GRE, since I'm not very strong in math. I'm taking it at the end of August and I'll be studying non-stop all summer. I'm hoping that even if my GRE score isn't all that stunning, I'll be able to make up for it with other things.

You should post this in the Canadian 2014 SLP thread--it's much more active there and the people are friendly.

I don't know much about SLP as I'm in Audiology but your stats and experience sound good :). Canadian programs LOVE research experience! My recommendation for the GRE is to use Magoosh.

Okay, I'll try that thread. Thanks! I have looked at Magoosh and they seem to a good bet.
