At this moment, the April 15, 2014 deadline for response to an admitted program is approaching quickly. One program emailed me today to response ASAP in order for them to reserve my space and my funding. Right now this program is my best choice, but there are many others, which are better than this one, still pending. What should I do? I may possiblly get admitted to a better program in the next few days, but not sure. Any advice to let this program spare more time for me?

By the way, the deadline in the offer letter is April 15, 2014.

What's the deadline by which you have to respond? It should be somewhere in the acceptance letter.

Thank you cbttcher. The deadline in the acceptance letter is April 15, 2014. The exact words are ""We cannot guarantee funding will be available after Aprial 15, 2014". It also says "May we have your acceptance or declination of this award as soon as possible, preferably within ten days of receipt of this notification?"

Then you have until April 15th to decide. The ten days thing is just something they'd wish you do because they also need to plan. I wouldn't necessarily take until April 15th but you definitely have a couple more days. At least that's what I think.

Have you contacted them at all?  If you have not, at least let them know that you've received their response and are waiting on responses from other universities, and that you'll get back to them ASAP.
