cedricyu803 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Hi folks, hope I am not repeating any previous posts I am from Hong Kong and will attend a PhD program starting this fall in New York City. My PhD funding package includes a medical insurance which starts on 20 Aug. But I am planning to arrive at NYC a few days earlier. In this case, should I purchase a travel insurance from my home city, or instead a short-term US medical insurance? For the latter case, do you guys have any recommendation of which company to go for? Thanks a lot~
TakeruK Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I would go with travel insurance because it's a lot easier to set up, but that's just for convenience!
cbttcher Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Same as TakeruK. I would go with the travel insurance. It's significantly less work to set up than short term insurance in the US.
cedricyu803 Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Thanks for your suggestions. I will take your advice and go for the travel insurance
