Hey, everyone. So I recently got accepted into UM and it is my dream school. Are there any current or admitted UM MPH students in here? My biggest issue is how I am going to pay for this degree. Current students, how are you paying the hefty price? Admitted students, how do you plan to pay?

Tuition is based on (18 credits)

Per credit is 1790 per credit (i did it based off 9)

Tuition including fees (no misc incorporated)

If you take (9cr) plus health insurance in the Fall 14 its $17042 including room and board is $26,788

i think that is a reasonable price, if you subtract the $2,306 dollars they have for health insurance your at $24,482 for 2 yrs that isn't bad. If you don't live on campus your saving $4,650 bucks plus tuition and fees including meal is $19,712

I'm sure you aren't taking 9 credits a semester. I guess you have to decide if your going to take 18 vs 9, If anything 12 credits a semester seems reasonable most likely it depends on how long you want to spend there.  They have an option for off campus housing through the school check it out.

Did you get any assistantship?

Thank you for creating this thread. I was wondering the same thing myself. I was recently admitted as well and have not heard any word on financial aid. Have they offer you any financial aid?

I'm sorry, but at $1790 per credit, 18 credits would cost around 32K. The total program is 45 credit. Without fees or living expenses or books included, tuition alone for the entire program will be over $80K. That is A LOT of money that most people don't have laying around.

As ridiculous as it is, I spoke to the guy today and he said that we will not receive our financial aid package until after we have accepted the offer of acceptance and registered for classes. Makes no sense to me. What if I accept the offer, decline my other cheaper offers, register for classes, get my financial aid package, then realize I can't afford it. I would be screwed!

Are you serious? I just emailed Mr. Brandon today. Can we accept the offer, see what the financial aid package is and if we can't afford it drop the offer?

I am sure you can (they couldn't stop you), but by that time it will be June/July already and most likely too late to accept offers from other schools :/

I went ahead and accepted the offer from UM with the hope that it will all work out in the end. Luckily I live in Miami already and Florida residents apparently get some kind of tuition discount. I still have to pay my own living expenses though...

I know.. that's why i said it's based off of 9.

9 credits considers you as a full-time student

Either way good luck

I got the same response from the admissions guy. However, he said and I quote "Our program is completely financeable through the following programs:Student Work Study Opportunities,Stafford Loan Program and GraduatePLUS Loan Program". I am thinking on waiting to see what the other schools I got into can give me for financial aid.

I think I'll go ahead and do that. I got a nice call from a current student the other day. Do you know if there are any facebook groups for the upcoming class?
