sid5427 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Hi guys, A nervous PhD applicant here. Right so as it happened, one of the professors I would like to work with had put out an active call for PhD students. I had sent in my documents and she had interviewed me at the of February. I hadn't sent in an application, and most professors ask to contact them first before sending in an official application. The university in Question is Missouri-Columbia ( Mizzou ) for a PhD in Bioinformatics. Long story short, I had a great interview and she offered me the position with funding and all the perks associated with it( medical insurance, fees, etc). After that I sent in my application to Mizzou (in the last week of feb). The deadlines mentioned on the department page is 1st of March. Now My potential supervisor has been following up on my application, and sent me updates if she hears anything. But I am extremely worried. I have been rejected from every other place I have applied and this is sort of my last chance for a PhD this year. Any idea if this would convert into an admit or not ? Because the admissions department haven't contacted me yet plus no info if they have started to contact anyone ! Would really appreciate any feedback, coz I am an international student and not familiar with the US admission process.

That's awesome to hear that the professor liked you enough to provide you with funding and associated perks. 2. Try e-mailing the admissions committee requesting an update on application status. It's possible they have sent out the letter. However, given that you're an international student, it may be taking some time to arrive at your doorstep.
