I was recently advised by my program coordinator to brush up on both methods and stats before entering the program this fall, as those are the two areas that typically cause problems for incoming students.

Any recommendations for good books/websites/videos that provide a decent preparation?  I've been out of school for 5 years now and could really use a review of the major points.

Andy Fields' book, Discovering Statistics with SPSS (or R) would be a great refresher if you have access to SPSS.  Also his website, www.statisticshell has video lectures and tutuorials on it that would be good refresher material for all the undergrad foundational stats stuff.

I second this.

That sounds a bit intense! What program are you going to?

Critical Thinking About Research should be a good resource for methods. I heard great things about Discovering Statistics with SPSS.

Also going to be reading a Fields' Discovering Stats book, but mostly to prepare me for using SAS. Always been an SPSS guy, now my new program uses SAS. Sweeeet.

If you need some basic brush up you could also do math modules at the khan academy.  They also have stat specific modules, though I'm not as keen on those

If you have the time or chance, you could also try sitting in on the psych stats course for undergrads.

Great idea. Khan Academy has great courses. You could also check out coursera.org
