InGaussweTrust Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Has anyone heard about funding and/or college placement yet? Still waiting to see what kind of funding to expect and set up my living situation.
Kleene Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I got into the college of my preference (Balliol). I have been told that at this point it is unlikely that I will receive college funding since these are more often awarded in conjunction with university funding. The results will probably go out within two weeks.
Sh_India Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Yes I got an offer from Wolfson College but funding situation is not that great for me too. Still figuring out external funding sources.
InGaussweTrust Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 Thanks for the responses. Yeah I am concerned about funding options coming up empty for me as well. I'm not sure if finding out about decisions later on is good/bad/non-determinative. I'll post when I hear back about it, for anyone else that may still be anxiously waiting.
ProfMoriarty Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I got into St. Anne's college, but have not heard about funding either. The website says mid-May, so I guess that settles it : we won't be awarded funding! :/ phd_prospie 1
InGaussweTrust Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 Still waiting too...on college and funding. Starting to get a little neurotic about it. End of May is the "deadline" for them to assign so we have to hear by this week I would think.
InGaussweTrust Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 Just heard from my department that I was awarded Clarendon funding! I am absolutely over the moon since I assumed all those awards had been handed out months ago. The email was from a department head and there was no mention of my college yet, but at this point I don't care too much. Â VERY EXCITED!
Feanor Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Thanks be to Gauss, I hope to have a pleasant surprise as well . Is an early admission a good sign? Or it doesn't mean anything at all? Is a January admission considered "early"? Sorry for the interrogation
Kleene Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) Thanks be to Gauss, I hope to have a pleasant surprise as well . Is an early admission a good sign? Or it doesn't mean anything at all? Is a January admission considered "early"? Sorry for the interrogation Did you apply for the November deadline? Because then January acceptances are about the norm. Similar for January applications where March (or late February) is the norm. Edited February 5, 2015 by Kleene
Feanor Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Yes I did. Alright then, I'll just try to be patient
Kleene Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Also, because you are a November applicant, you will have to wait longer for funding decisions because those will be made at the same time as those for the January deadline.
