"Short Waitlist" MA Statistics Columbia University

Does anyone know if this waitlist is truly a "short waitlist" or do they just place everyone there? Does anyone know of people who have been rejected from the program?

I'm also on the waitlist. I posted in the math and stats forum on here with a similar question and haven't gotten a response. However, from looking through old posts and the Results Search, it really does sound like they make some admits and then put everyone else on the waitlist until they fill their class. I think I saw a reject in the results search from either last year or a previous year that was recorded in May. I have no idea what the chances are of getting accepted off the waitlist, but I'm really curious!

Oh ok, thanks. I am also really curious as to how many people are put on the waitlist and who, if any, have been rejected. It doesn't help that I applied really late. It was weird that I was placed on the "short waitlist" after only a day of me submitting my application.
