katiescarlett Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 I put this here rather than in the SOP thread on the main page, because it pertains to SLP. I am currently writing (attempting it anyway) my statement of purpose, and am having trouble with it. I am interested in working in the medical field, and would like to discuss my interest in this because of my grandmother, who suffered a TBI several years ago that affected her speech greatly. Also, how and at what point in the SOP should I give the reason for my low overall GPA (2.4), and discuss my higher GPA for my last 60 (and in my major) that I have maintained while working a full time professional job? Thank you!
AKCarlton Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I would start your SOP with the grandmother anecdote. And I saved mentioning my lower GRE scores toward the end of my SOP, the second to last paragraph. Thus, I believe that would be the best area to mention your GPA...
