avicennalocke Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Grad Cafe people, I am a deferred combined HKS student of British-Chinese origin. As I was about to start my masters, I received an offer to go work for the UK govt on a Chinese project for which I was happy to delay my grad school start for a year. Last year I applied for a Von Clemm Fellowship, one of the most prestigious scholarships at Oxford / the UK. I got through to the final round for an interview but didn't make it to the cut for the scholarship, but I was told I should re-apply! I know I can re-apply and I definitely will. I just want to understand how I can increase my chance of being accepted for at least an interview again! What should I talk about on the essay? Should I keep the theme the same as last year's essay? Should I tackle the fact I got rejected head-on and talk about why I am better / more suited this year? Just looking for honest opinions, thoughts, interesting ideas etc! Know it's tough but anyone who's been in the same situation would be great! First post so hope you guys can help!
