2015 Gates Cambridge

I've just recently decided to pursue my Ph.D. at Cambridge and looked at the Gates Cambridge Scholarship. The deadline is October 15th for US citizens. I was wondering who on here its applying/applied.

I applied and received an offer of admission from Cambridge. Still haven't heard anything from the Gates.

I got a phone interview for the Gates (through my department at Cambridge) a few weeks ago, and have an in-person interview (through Gates) scheduled for the end of January.

Congrats on your progress! I never applied because they seemed more focused on the sciences than humanities, but I do hope you get it! Good luck.

Hmm I never got an email with the interview for Gates, but someone else at my uni who is applying to the same program got one on Friday..

 

looks like I won't be going to England next year, oh well

Aw, well, me neither in that case! At least we gave it our best shot. It's funny, my department at Cambridge accepted me on Nov. 12th, SUPER early - but I guess whatever makes me a good applicant for the program didn't also make me a good applicant for the scholarship. Someday I'd be really interested to see the internal workings of these competitions...

I applied by the international deadline (american but live abroad) and I interviewed last week. who knows?
